Studio Australia is a family business that has been creating ceramics since 1990 in Wagga Wagga in the Riverina, New South Wales. Dawn, Cynthia and John along with their long time staff Kerry and Lindy were proud manufactures of Australian Ceramics for over three decades.
Now Ula and Sonya, mother-and-daughter duo from the Mid North Coast, NSW are carrying on the tradition of crafting the beloved ceramic birds. As always, all their ceramic pieces are hand slip cast earthenware clay, hand-painted and glazed and then fired in an electric kiln twice. Importantly every piece is signed and stamped with Studio Australia's familiar branding.
These Australian Wall Birds hark back to the popular 20th century decor piece, the "Flying Ducks", first produced in 1938. Nana's flying mallards have been revived and reinvented with a distinctly Australian twist, bringing them into the 21st century.
