Face Masks

Fabric Face Masks do not offer the same level of protection as surgical mask or N95 masks, but they can assist in reducing disease transmission by helping to prevent face-touching and minimising respiratory droplet spray.

These Face Masks are handmade in Vietnam by a Social Enterprise, providing training and employment opportunities to communities in rural areas, and raising funds for education scholarships and other local initiatives.  A portion of every sale (minimum 50%) goes to support their work.

• Handmade in Vietnam
• 4 layered construction: 2 layers of tightly woven quilting cotton fabric, 2 layers of antimicrobial polyester fabric
• Elastic over-ear straps for a secure and comfortable fit
• One size only - designed for use by adults
• Machine washable up to 60C with like colours*

* Please note: we recommend hand washing your mask in warm soapy water before using or washing with other items. 

Tips for wearing:

• Ensure your mask covers your mouth and nose.
• Avoid touching your mask while wearing it.
• If you accidentally touch your mask, wash or sanitise your hands.
• Remove the mask by lifting off the straps without touching the front of the mask or your face.
• Wash your hands immediately after removing your mask.
• Regularly wash your mask with detergent and hot water (after each use, if possible).

Precautions:

• Don't put masks on anyone who has trouble breathing, is unconscious or otherwise unable to remove the mask without help.
• Don't put masks on children under 2 years of age, and ensure children are always under competent adult supervision when wearing masks.
• Remember, face masks are an addition to (not a substitute for) other preventative measures such as social distancing and frequent hand-washing.

These  Face Masks are handmade using patterned fabrics, making every item unique!

Your item may not look exactly like any of the items shown here.

There may be minor variation in size and fit between different masks.

Photography conditions and monitor settings can make it difficult to ascertain colours online. 

Please note that the patterned fabric used in Sapa Thai - Black and Sapa Patchwork - Black has a purplish undertone.

The fabric used in the Sapa Thai - Indigo and Sapa Patchwork Indigo is exrtremely dark blue, almost black!

These close-fitting, dual-layered masks are available in three sizes:

• Small: recommended for children aged 3-12 years
• Medium: suitable for most women
• Large: suitable for most most men

The solid coloured masks (Grey & Black) are made with: a 100% cotton exterior mask (300gms) and a 100% cotton inner layer.

The printed (patterned) masks are made with: a 100% cotton exterior mask (275-300gms) and a soft viscose/lycra blend inner layer for comfort.

All Design Team Face Masks feature:

• Side opening where you can insert an additional (third) layer if desired (such as tightly woven sheeting or quilting type fabric)
• Adjustable cotton-blend ties for a secure fit

Other features:

• Machine washable (we recommend use of a lingerie bag to protect your mask and prevent tangles and pulled straps in the washing machine) - simply use hot water and detergent. A hot iron may also assist in disinfecting.
• Handmade in South Africa by Design Team, supporting township communities through training and ongoing employment opportunities, plus a percentage of sales.

Ruby Olive's luxurious Silk Face Masks have been designed for general purpose use, so you can wash, sanitise and reuse your mask. 

These Face Masks feature:

• 16mm mulberry silk fabric
• Triple layered, plus a pocket for additional filter if desired
• Adjustable elastic straps and nose wire for secure and comfortable fit
• One size only - suits most adolescents and adults
• Comes in a re-usable, biodegradable pouch

Dimensions:

• Top to bottom (nose to chin) is approximately 11cm and the width is approximately 19cm
• The elastic on each side is 8cm (un-pulled) and the toggle can be adjusted to reduce the length

Care instructions:

• Warm handwash or gentle machine wash (liquid detergent, up to 40c recommended) after every use.
• We recommend the use of a lingerie wash bag or pillowcase to ensure straps do not
• Do not bleach. Do not rub, soak or wring. Reduce spin, remove promptly after cycle has finished.
• Line dry in shade. If desired press with a warm iron. Do not iron elastic.
• Dry cleanable
